The quality is great and my boys have worn them every week to church! They get so many compliments from kids and adults alike. Formal Night on our Disney Cruise was one of my favorite cruise activities. But, it was also one of the events I had a lot of questions about. What to Wear on a Disney Cruise
Lots of Sea Days, and you can add a couple of days at either end to visit the embarkation and disembarkation cities. Another bonus is you get to enjoy some unique menus. Not sure I saw any man in a tuxedo on our trip (except for the crew). Most of the men wore suits or sport coats dressed up with a tie. On the Tracy Arm glacier observation day, I wore jeans, a long-sleeve tee shirt, a mid-weight sweater, hiking boots, a mid-weight down parka, and gloves.

“Cruise casual” just means no tank tops and flip flops, or extremely casual wear. While this gives you a wide range to choose from, I’d mention that the dining restaurants are very nice and posh. So personally, I wouldn’t feel comfortable being super casual, in like, jean shorts and a hoodie. But a summer dress, a nicer pair of pants and a cute top, polo shorts and dressy shorts for men, all would perfect. Formal nights on Carnival are defined by the line as cruise elegant.

I sat in the lobby atrium for about 45 minutes, specifically paying attention to the clothing choices made by guests. Perhaps half of the remaining men wore suits with jacket and tie. This is what sets Disney apart from sailing on other cruise lines. Most of what we saw for kids were costumes and Disney gear when it came to dress.

I’m not much of a pool person (I prefer to spend my days onboard at Bingo, trivia contests, and mixology classes), but I still bring a swimsuit for some spa treatments. There is virtually no need for anything other than the most casual clothing during the day on the ship. The MDRs may also have any of several possible other dress suggestions depending on the specifics of your sailing.
On my Alaskan DCL cruise, there were many children in the pools on our embarkation day in Vancouver. After that, I saw just a handful of guests using the hot tubs on deck and very few people using the larger pools. If you’re not a hot tub or spa person, it might be possible to leave your swimwear at home for this trip.

Be sure to consult the guidelines of any excursions you’ve selected. For example, zipline excursions often require that you wear closed-toe shoes. Depending on your exact sailing, the required clothing will be a hybrid of the Alaska and Mediterranean recommendations. If you’re on an excursion to the Arctic Circle, dress in warm layers. If you’re touring a metropolitan city like Stockholm and want to blend in with the locals, step up your fashion game a bit. Most DCL European destinations have stops in ports with lots of cobblestone streets or other uneven pavement.

One day we're going to do Cunard, every night is dress up. The characters will be out and about before dinner so you can get pictures with them every night. Kids get excited about dressing in costume for dinner and finding out which characters are there to take pictures with.
This happens on almost all DCL sailings in the Caribbean and Bahamas, as well as some other destinations. Disney will give every guest a pirate themed bandana to wear on pirate night. The on board shops will sell full pirate costumes for children as well as faux hook hands, eye patches, and other related accoutrements.
It’s fun for both kids and adults to get dressed up and take pictures with the Disney characters. Also a great opportunity to snap a nice family photo with Mickey or Minnie. Norwegian Cruise Lines believes in freestyle cruising, and it doesn’t have formal nights per se. You’re pretty much fine in all public areas of the ship in polo shirts and jeans in decent shape if you’re a man, and Capri pants and blouse, or sundresses for women. There are some upscale dining venues on Norwegian ships that so require a bit more, but this pretty much stops at wearing a collared shirt for men, and women. Effectively the only real restriction is that you can’t wear swimwear inside, and even that restriction is only that you have to have some sort of a cover-up.
On formal night the show is different according to which ship you are on. This Oven Baked Salmon is on the menu of every rotational dining restaurant each day in the Lighter Offerings Section. The cruise casual rule is partly to help the situation if you haven’t yet got your luggage before you go to dinner. This isn’t very likely as usually you do have your luggage delivered to your stateroom by 4 pm at the latest, but it does happen. Have your picture taken with Captain Mickey in his bow tie as we did.
